Turn on lead finding to keep your pipeline full

Modified on Sat, 11 Jul at 9:32 AM

Auto-scout keeps your pipeline topped up without you lifting a finger. You describe your ideal customer once, set a target and a budget, and KM Hub quietly runs a bounded lead scout whenever your open pipeline runs thin. New verified contacts arrive in your pipeline with a first message already drafted and waiting for your review.

Where to find it

Open Marketing > Find Leads. The auto-scout panel lives on this page and is admin-only, so only organization admins can see and change it. On the scout form itself you will also spot a Keep this ongoing (auto top-up my pipeline) option - that is the same idea: when your open pipeline runs thin, the scout re-runs the search on its own, bounded by a daily cap and a monthly budget.

What each setting does

  • Auto-scout on/off switch: the master control. While it is on, the guardian watches your pipeline for you.
  • Who to target (ICP): a plain-text description of your ideal customer, or a Sales Navigator URL. This is what every automatic scout searches for, so be specific: the kind of business, the role you want to reach, and where they are.
  • Target open pipeline: the number of open early-stage deals you want to keep in play. When your count falls below this number, auto-scout tops it back up.
  • Monthly budget ($): a circuit-breaker. Auto-scout pauses itself the moment the month's lead-finding spend reaches this amount, so there are never surprise charges.

Turn it on

  1. Go to Marketing > Find Leads and locate the auto-scout panel (you need admin access).
  2. Describe who to target in the ICP box - keywords or a Sales Navigator URL.
  3. Set your Target open pipeline number.
  4. Set a Monthly budget you are comfortable with.
  5. Flip the switch on. That's it - the guardian takes over from here.

Turning auto-scout on also completes the "Keep your pipeline full" card on your Quick Start page.

How the guardian works

Every 30 minutes, KM Hub checks how many open early-stage deals you have. If the count has dropped below your target, it fires one bounded scout to refill the gap - it never runs more than it needs to. Each run is billed only on actual usage, and you always see costs before anything runs.

Changing your limits later

Want to raise the budget or aim for a bigger pipeline? Update the fields, then toggle auto-scout off and back on to apply the new limits.

If auto-scout pauses itself

When auto-scout stops running, a paused-reason banner on the panel tells you exactly why. The two common reasons are:

  • Needs ICP: the who-to-target box is empty, so the guardian has nothing to search for. Fill it in and re-enable.
  • Monthly budget reached: the circuit-breaker tripped. Raise the budget or wait for the new month, then toggle it back on.

What happens to the leads it finds

Auto-scout runs the same pipeline as a manual scout: it finds people, verifies their emails, researches them, and writes a first-touch draft for each verified contact. Those drafts wait in your Work Board for approval - nothing is sent without you seeing it first. For the full walkthrough of a scout run and its costs, see "Working your scouted leads - and what lead finding costs" in this folder.
