SMS Settings is where you choose how your text messages go out and prove the pipe works before you rely on it. You can use KM Hub's shared number with zero setup, or connect your own Twilio or Quo (OpenPhone) account so texts come from your own number. Find it under Settings > SMS Settings.

Step 1: pick how you want to send
At the top of the page, the How do you want to send? picker offers three options:
- KM Hub shared - nothing to set up. No credentials needed: turn on "SMS is enabled" below and send. KM Hub provides the sending number.
- Own Twilio - texts go out through your Twilio account and number. You'll need three values from your Twilio console: Account SID, Auth Token, and the From number (the Twilio phone number you send from).
- Quo - for Quo (OpenPhone) users. You'll need your API key and the From number you want texts to come from.
Connecting your own provider means replies and delivery run on a number your clients already recognize, and your usage is billed by your provider directly.
Step 2: enable SMS for your organization
Check the SMS is enabled switch. This is the org-wide master control: when it's off, no text messages are sent for this organization, no matter what else is configured. Then click Save settings.
Step 3: send a test
Don't skip this - it's the fastest way to catch a typo in a credential.
- Save your settings first (the test uses whatever is saved).
- In the Send a test SMS section, enter your own mobile in the To (phone number) field, using international format (for example, +15555550123).
- Adjust the Message text if you like - it defaults to "This is a test message from KM Hub."
- Click Send test and watch your phone.
Step 4: verify in Recent messages
The Recent messages table at the bottom logs every send with When, To, Provider, Status, and Detail columns. A test that worked shows a sent status. If something failed, the Detail column tells you why - usually a wrong credential or a badly formatted phone number.
Troubleshooting
- Test never arrives but shows sent: double-check the To number's country code.
- Status shows an error with Twilio: re-copy the Account SID and Auth Token from your Twilio console - trailing spaces are a classic culprit.
- Nothing sends anywhere in the app: confirm "SMS is enabled" is checked and settings were saved.
Once your test lands, the SMS page (Clients > SMS) and every automated text in KM Hub will send through the provider you chose.
