Finding your way around KM Hub: the six sidebar sections and the + quick-create menu (including Tasks)

Modified on Tue, 4 Aug at 7:09 PM

You know the feature is in there somewhere. You just cannot find the door. The two versions of this we hear most are How do I get to Marketing and Can you add a quick button for "Tasks" on the Plus menu?, and this article answers both of them along with every other "where is that" question about KM Hub. The short version: Marketing is one of the sections in the main left sidebar, and the Tasks quick button already exists on the + menu. Here is the full tour.

The two short answers

  1. Where is Marketing? Open the left sidebar and click Marketing. That is the Marketing section, and it holds Find Leads, the SEO tools and Creative Studio. People often ask where is the Marketing tab: in the app it is a section of the left sidebar, not a browser tab, which is why flipping through your browser tabs never turns it up. If it is not there at all - the I can't find Marketing case, where the section is genuinely absent from the sidebar rather than just hard to spot - read If a whole section is missing further down, because that is a setting rather than a fault.
  2. Can you add a shortcut for tasks to the plus button? It is already there. The Tasks item shipped on 28 July 2026 and sits on the quick create menu with the check-square icon, between Payment and Quick Note. If your reaction is "I don't see it", refresh the page once and it will appear. There is a section below explaining exactly why.

The left sidebar: six sections and what lives in each

On desktop the navigation comes in two pieces: a slim icon rail down the far left with one icon per section, and a column next to it listing that section's pages. Clicking a rail icon switches sections. A breadcrumb at the top of every page tells you where you are as Function > Page, which is the notation the rest of this help center uses when it writes something like Marketing > Find Leads.

Dashboard sits above the six sections as your home, and Settings sits below them, off the daily path. If you count five sections instead of six, you are almost certainly in Solo Mode: the HR section is agency-only and is hidden entirely for solo accounts.

Marketing: they find you, you reach them

The Marketing column has two tabs at the top, Inbound and Outbound, plus a Studio group that shows while Inbound is the selected tab.

  • Inbound: SEO & AI Search, SEO Posts, SEO Board, LinkedIn Content, Lead Qualification Forms, Website Embed Tools, Historian.
  • Outbound: Find Leads, Grand Openings, Whale Radar, Milestone Radar, Marketplace Monitor, Upcoming Conferences, Library Radar, School Radar, Property Radar, Event Scout, Campaigns, Personalized Email.
  • Studio: Content Studio, Gig Story, Creative Studio, Review Content, Design Planner, Galleries.

Two of those deserve a word before you click:

  • Find Leads is lead scouting. The auto-scout panel on that page is limited by role: Admins and Managers can see it, and only Admins can change it. If a teammate described that panel and you cannot see it at all, that is your role rather than a bug. Scouting costs money per run and shows you an estimate before anything starts.
  • Creative Studio is an umbrella page, not a single tool. Its sub-tools are tabs across the top: Content Studio, Copy Studio, Senior Scriptwriter, Image Studio, Design Studio and Graphic Designer. Content Studio is the first tab, and it also has its own row in the sidebar, so both doors land in the same place. Several of these tools run pay-as-you-go from your wallet and show the typical cost of a run before you start.

Sales: work the pipeline and close

  • Pipeline: Approval Queue, Pipelines, Inbox, LeadIQ Cockpit, Tasks, Inquiry Source.
  • Sell: Text Closer, Sales Playbook.
  • Nurture: Workflows, Sequences.
  • Close: Quotes, Proposals, Booking Forms, Client Questionnaires.

Operations: schedule, money, deliver

  • Schedule: Calendar, Events, Scheduling.
  • Money: Invoices, Payments, Expenses, Service Rates, Packages and Add-ons, Peer Rate Check, Job Costing, Reports.
  • Deliver: Rentals, Equipment, Booking Catalogs, Client Planning Forms, Documents, Music Request Forms.

HR: your crew, from hire to payday

  • Team: Team Members, Employee Portal, Talent Match.
  • Pay & Time: Payroll, Time Tracking, Trip Tracker, Payroll Report, 1099 Report.

This whole section is hidden in Solo Mode on purpose. Nothing is wrong if you never see it.

Clients: your people and conversations

  • People: Clients, Contacts.
  • Talk: Mail, SMS.
  • Nurture & Reputation: Email Marketing, Public Reviews, Private Feedback.

AI Team: your AI officers and the numbers

  • Officers: AI Overview, Second-in-Command, AI Officers, AI Activity.
  • Decisions: Report Card, Decisions.
  • Know-How: Weekly Sit-Down, Team Playbooks.

Settings: configure once

Settings sits at the bottom of the rail and splits into two tabs. Account holds your account, billing, usage, AI pricing, custom fields, email templates, merge tags, calendar feed, holidays and SMS settings. Connect holds guided setup, business knowledge, integrations, email senders, deliverability, import, export, PayPal payouts, Square, developer and API, and feature availability.

Two tools that are not where older help articles say they are

Both of these moved and a couple of our own articles have not caught up. Save yourself the hunt:

  • Scheduling, the Calendly-style links where a prospect picks a real slot on your calendar, is under Operations > Schedule, beside Calendar and Events. It used to sit under Marketing. Looking for it there now is a dead end, so skip that step.
  • Workflows is under Sales > Nurture, beside Sequences. Our import articles still say Marketing > Workflows, and that is out of date. Automations brought over from your old CRM land in Workflows, and they arrive paused on purpose. They email nobody until you open each one, review it and switch it on yourself.

If a whole section is missing from your sidebar

If Marketing, or any other section, is absent rather than just hard to spot, check these three in order before assuming it is a plan limit:

  1. Feature Visibility. Anything switched off there disappears from your navigation. Go to hub.kivimedia.co/?page=feature-visibility, or read Hide features you don't need (Feature Visibility) in this help center. Hiding is cosmetic and reversible, and it deletes nothing, but only an Admin can change what is hidden.
  2. Solo Mode. It removes the whole agency toolset, HR included.
  3. Your own nav customization. The pen icon beside the KM Hub brand in the top bar turns on nav-edit mode, where you can hide and reorder rows within a section. A row hidden that way is still reachable through search and Ctrl+K, which makes it a quick way to prove a page still exists.

The All features page, reached from the ? button in the top bar, lists everything the product has in one place. It is the fastest way to confirm a capability exists at all before you go hunting for its door.

The top bar

The top bar is the same on every page. From the left: your brand, the nav-edit pen, the organization switcher, and the search box (which opens the Command Palette). On the right: the + quick create button, the notifications bell, the theme picker, the AI assistant sparkle, the ? help and learning menu, and your account avatar.

The Command Palette: the fastest way anywhere

Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac) from any page. The palette shows commands grouped by purpose (Go to, Money, Communicate, Build, Grow, Settings and Help), and typing searches across your actual records too: clients, events, invoices and proposals. It even evaluates inline math, so typing 450*3 gives you the answer without leaving the keyboard. When you do not know which section owns a page, this beats hunting the sidebar every time.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Ctrl+K - open the Command Palette
  • Ctrl+N - create a new event
  • Ctrl+J - open the AI assistant panel
  • Ctrl+, - open Settings
  • Ctrl+/ - show the shortcuts help
  • G then a letter - jump pages: G then D for Dashboard, C for Calendar, E for Events, L for Clients, P for Payments, M for Mail

On Mac, use Cmd wherever Ctrl is listed. There is no single-letter jump for Marketing, so reach that one with Ctrl+K or the sidebar.

The + quick create menu, including Tasks

There are two + controls and they open the same menu: the round + floating at the bottom right of the screen, and the + in the top bar. Customers regularly hunt for one without realising the other exists, so if a colleague described a plus button in a place you do not have one, that is why. Either control gives you the same six items. Reading down from the top of the popup:

  1. New Event - opens the new event dialog right where you are, so you keep your place.
  2. New Client - takes you to your Clients page.
  3. Appointment - takes you to your Calendar.
  4. Payment - takes you to your Payments page.
  5. Tasks - takes you straight to your Tasks page. It carries the check-square icon and sits between Payment and Quick Note, grouped with the other quick-capture action nearest the round + button. For what to do once you are there, read Tasks: track to-dos tied to bookings and clients in this help center.
  6. Quick Note - takes you to your Documents page.

Worth being precise about, because an earlier version of this article was not: only New Event opens a create flow in place. The other five are navigation shortcuts that move you to the right page. Tasks in particular does not open a create-a-task box on top of whatever you were doing.

If you do not see Tasks on the + menu

Refresh the page once: F5 on Windows, Cmd+R on Mac. That is the whole fix, and it is not a brush-off. Here is why it is needed.

KM Hub is a single-page app. A browser tab left open across a release keeps running the version of the app it downloaded when you first opened it, so anything shipped since then genuinely is not in your copy yet. Reloading fetches the current one. This applies to any newly shipped menu item, button or page, not only Tasks, so it is worth doing before you report something as missing.

KM Hub watches for this too. When a new version has been deployed while your tab stayed open, a banner appears saying A new version of KM Hub is ready with a Refresh now button. It never reloads on its own, so unsaved work in an editor is safe. Clicking it does the same job as F5.

Your account menu

Click your avatar in the top corner for My Profile, Settings, Notifications, Help & Support and Sign Out.

On mobile

On a phone the sidebar becomes a bottom tab bar with five slots: Home, Calendar, Events, Clients and More. More opens a sheet with the full navigation, where the same sections appear as accordions with the same groups inside them. Everything you can reach on desktop is reachable there, Marketing included.

Deep links

Every page has a stable address in the form https://hub.kivimedia.co/?page=<id>, for example ?page=calendar, ?page=find or ?page=tasks. Bookmark the pages you live in, and your browser's back and forward buttons work normally as you move around.

If you still cannot find it

Press Ctrl+K and type the name of the thing you want, since the palette searches rows you have hidden as well as visible ones. If the palette does not know it either, submit a ticket and tell us the name you are looking for and what you expected it to do. If something is missing because of Feature Visibility, Solo Mode, your role, or a module that is not switched on for your account, we can tell you which one in a single reply.

Still stuck? Submit a ticket from this help center and we'll take it from there.
